Very fun.the drive up 89 exceeded my expectations for scenery. Bear lake? who knew so awesome...got rasberry shakes in Thayne (with everybody else but we picked a spot with no one in line (theres a few stands in town that sell them.) Stayed at Elk Country Inn, jacuzzi broke the whole time. opted out of river raft ride. couldnt really afford it. The town square was super super shopping. Took the jenny boat lake ferry and hiked. that was super neat..saw a mom and baby moose there and a beaver when we left. did the gondola up to Rondeauveux mountain. that was cool. the ticket (like $22) allowed us to go up the chair lift there for free.. that was nice to watch the mtn. bikers going...it was a sweet not terryifying ride ;). The tetons were super incredible.
saw a bear on side of south entrance upon arrival at the south entrance. that was fun. saw a dear in road after that. about 8 am.
went to ofi. took the tour there...some great stories of all who used to work there...cant believe they shut it all down in the winter!
our tour guide said a couple were there after they met 20 years ago and while touring, they saw an elevator--that used to be a laundry chute that employees used to slide down, the tour guide didnt even know that!good stuff. plus the note the workers left in the lightning rod...they were drunk up there...went to Grand Prismatic Spring...we think this was the MOST amazing...but ONLY if you walked up that HILL. dont even bother going to the trailhead...its nothing like the view far away..."hot tub time machine?" we were singing "smoke on the water.!"
